Katy Botanicals, design process
High-quality botanical fabrics for your home
Katy creates her exquisite floral creations by studying the plants and flowers around her Hampshire garden or on walks through the countryside. She creates her nature inspired fabrics as oil paintings or in acrylics using traditional repeat pattern techniques. These sorts of designs were made popular by the artists and artisans of the Arts and Crafts movement (around 1880 - 1920), such as William Morris and C F A Voysey.
Katy will create four design ‘tiles’ which are interchangeable so that the design flows across all four sections. She edits and develops the design until she has a unique and beautiful botanical fabric design that can be printed onto any fabric.
Luxurious botanical fabrics for your next project
The final designs are printed onto eco-friendly fabrics, using natural dyes, in the England. We only print onto fabrics that will last and are environmentally friendly. The colours and the textiles are organic, sustainable furnishing fabrics that have high rub counts so will show no wear and tear for many years.
We also enjoy working with clients on bespoke interior design projects to match our designs to their colour schemes. Katy can create backgrounds with exact matches to paint colours and we can also print ‘railroad’ style, or sideways, for projects that horizontal runs of fabric with no seams, such as headboards or pelmets.
If you have any questions about our design process, or bespoke interiors projects, please do ask as we are always happy to talk designing.
